The Sussex Barn is a family-run wedding venue in Hellingly, East Sussex. As a working farm, there’s a lovely relaxed feel to the venue, where couple’s can use it as a blank canvas to create the rustic/boho wedding of their dreams.
Located in the East Sussex countryside, The Sussex Barn is surrounded by glorious fields that provide a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony, reception drinks, or couples shoot. Jodie and Jamie chose the venue for their special day, and with access to the venue 2 days beforehand, they were able to spend time decorating it to perfection.

The Sussex Barn is an exclusive use wedding venue, and all areas of the venue are within easy reach of each other. The key areas of the venue include:
- The Main Barn: Ceremony and wedding breakfast space
- The Cart Shed: Outdoor ceremony space or reception drinks (covered area)
- The Courtyard: Reception drinks
- The Stable: Registrar meeting space

Jodie and her bridal party got ready at Warren Wood Country Park, where there was lots of laughter, prosecco, and a few tears. Jodie looked absolutely beautiful in her boho-style wedding dress.

After a busy morning finalising their wedding decorations, Jamie enjoyed some time with his groomsmen before the wedding ceremony. The waited until later in the day to throw him in the air!

The Main Barn is a stunning space to say ‘I do’ with its rustic exposed beams and lovely light. Jamie shed a few tears as his beautiful bride-to-be walked down the aisle.

There were a couple of heartfelt readings from Jamie’s mum and 2 of Jodie’s bridesmaids. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place as the couple said their vows to each other. The venue is licensed to hold weddings in the Main Barn and in the Cart Shed.

The courtyard is a great place to throw confetti with the gorgeous countryside in the background.

It was a bit of rainy day, but there were some breaks in the clouds during the drinks reception. Jamie, Jodie, and their guests were able to enjoy the lovely courtyard and Cart Shed before moving inside for the remaining drinks reception.

The photographer, Jess Bevan, and I, took Jamie and Jodie off for a little walk around the grounds of the The Sussex Barn and to nearby Hellingly Country Park. They laughed, cuddled, and kissed for some amazing footage and photos and even a rainbow made an appearance.

The wedding breakfast was held in the Main Barn — a Grade II listed barn with beautiful exposed beams and soft bunting lighting creating a magical atmosphere. Jamie and Jodie both did a speech, along with the Father of the Bride, Mother of the Groom, and the Best Man.

After cutting their cake in the Main Barn, guests gathered to watch Jamie and Jodie’s first dance as a married couple. They all couldn’t wait to join the couple on the dancefloor and spent the rest of the evening dancing the night away.

With access 2 days before your wedding and no corkage fees, you can organise as much as you want, including your décor, catering, and drinks.
