Great Fosters is an elegant Tudor estate located just outside Windsor in Surrey. Part of the Alexander Hotels Group, Great Fosters hosts weddings for up to 160 day guests, and offers luxury accommodation for guests at a reduced rate.

As a Surrey Wedding Videographer, I’ve filmed at Great Fosters several times and was pleased to be back for Sally and Duncan’s wedding. I love the beautifully light Orangery, the rustic charm of the Tithe Barn, and the 50 acres of stunning grounds and parklands.

Great Fosters isn’t typically an exclusive use wedding venue, but its large size and dedicated wedding wing will make it feel like you’ve got exclusive use. These are the options for the available wedding spaces:

• Historic Nursery Suite: Pre-wedding preparation space
• The Orangery: Ceremony room and optional evening reception room
• The Archery Pavilion: Outdoor ceremonies
• The Bar and Courtyard: Reception drinks
• The Tithe Barn: Wedding breakfast and evening reception
• The Magnolia Lawn: Outdoor wedding reception (May-September)
• Gardens and parklands: Wedding photos and video
• Honeymoon Suite: Accommodation for the wedding couple

The Historic Nursery Suite is in the main building of Great Fosters, with charming period features and stunning views out to the formal gardens. I joined Sally and her bridal party in the morning to capture some of her preparations.

I also spent some time with Duncan when he arrived at Great Fosters. He was already dressed and ready, so we went for a quick stroll around the venue. Great Fosters has a beautiful exterior, great for photos and video.

The Orangery is the indoor wedding ceremony room, flooded with natural light even on the dullest of days. The exposed red brick and large arched windows are absolutely stunning.

Duncan waited nervously while a harpist played during the arrival of Sally and her bridal party. After the ceremony, Sally and Duncan were showered with confetti as they exited for their wedding reception.

The Great British weather didn’t play ball, raining pretty much the entire day; however, Sally, Duncan and their guests were still able to enjoy some outdoor drinks under the venue’s stretch tent. I kept an eye on my trusty weather app, so the photographer, Charlotte Hellinger and  I, were able to capture some family shots during this time.

Sally and Duncan embraced the drizzle and wanted to head outside to make the most of the beautiful grounds. The photo and video opportunities at Great Fosters are endless. Ornamental gardens, a wisteria-covered bridge, a moat, and beautiful manicured hedges – Great Fosters has it all!

The wedding breakfast was held in the Tithe Barn — a Grade II listed barn with exposed English oak beams. Sally’s father and step-father regaled their guests with childhood memories, while Duncan swooned over his beautiful new wife.

After cutting their cake in the Tithe Barn, Sally and Duncan hit the dance floor for the first time as a married couple. After impressing with some twirls and dips, their guests couldn’t wait to join them to dance the night away. With its abundance of fairy lights, the Tithe Barn is a truly magical setting for an evening reception.
